Official Site to petition against Harford County Bill No. 07-44
Update -
WELL, WE DID IT!! The
Harford County Bill No. 07-44 to ban ATVs in Harford County has been
withdrawn! This is good news and bad news.
Here is a link to the Baltimore Sun
article, dated 10/7/07!
We especially liked this opening quote from the article...
Throughout the County Council session,
Veronica "Roni" L. Chenowith's view of the audience was impeded by the foot-high
stack of e-mails topped with a paper weight.

NOTE:
If anyone can source a picture of Roni Chenowith sitting at the Council Meeting
with this foot high stack of emails on front of her, PLEASE email it to us at
harfordcountypetition@yahoo.com
OK, so what does all this mean now? Well, this is generally good news, but
here is what this really means.
The Harford County Council
received so much feedback regarding this bill, that supposedly Roni Chenowith
was the only person that was going to vote in favor or it! She claims to
have received over 2,300 emails and over 100 phone calls, just to her
personally!
We do not think that the
Harford County Council has ever received such feedback on an issue. That
is evident by the statements that have been quoted by several Council Members
and statements published in the Aegis. Also, we don't think that Roni
Chenowith ever expected such an organized and well delivered voice opposing
her ideas (Bill No. 07-44).
Her withdrawing the bill (as it
was written) was done to both save face (not having to go through the
humiliation of submitting a bill that NONE of the other Council Members
would support) and also to save the time wasted in presenting it and having it
fail.
She still wants to put a law
on the books to outlaw and ban ATVs!! She just needs time to go back
and re-evaluate her game plan and put another bill together. Her next
step is to put a task force together to find out how and where she can outlaw
them. This will also give the side that supports such a bill, time to
organize and possibly be heard! We still need to strengthen our base!
We still need to be vigilant and continue to organize the troops! This is what you can do...
Continue to let your local politicians know how you feel about them taking your property rights away. E-mail them here with your thoughts on this type of law!
For the time being, we have archived our original page with the old information. Please feel free to visit that page here.
Thanks for all your support! Ride safe!
